My story
A few things you should know about me…

The Business Started By Accident
What started as helping a friend with her LuLaRoe business in 2016 turned into a full design business within a week. Designs on the Go, LLC launched on Etsy and Jennifer was working 40 hour weeks almost immediately.

Built Through Some Seriously Hard Years
Before the business existed, the family weathered three rounds of job loss, four C-sections, and multiple stretches on welfare. That resilience is baked into how Jennifer runs her business today.
We Live and Work From the Road
Designs On The Go has been run from an RV since 2017. From a travel trailer to a 38 foot motorhome to a fifth wheel, the office has changed shape over the years but the business has never stopped.

Four Daughters, Zero Traditional Classrooms
Jennifer and Phil are raising four daughters using the unschooling philosophy, letting their kids learn through real world travel and experiences instead of a traditional classroom.

This is Our Story
Meet the Family
Hi, I'm Jennifer! The wonderful man beside me is my husband, Phil. We've been married since January 2010, and together we're raising four beautiful daughters, ranging in age from 10 to 16.
We're a nomad family. Our RV is our home, and home is wherever we park it, literally. We've embraced the unschooling philosophy, letting our girls learn through real experiences and exploration as we travel across the United States together.
A Rollercoaster Beginning
Our early years of marriage were not easy. Between unexpected job losses, a tough stretch of medical bills, and welcoming four daughters through four C-sections, Phil and I learned early on how to lean on each other and keep moving forward no matter what life threw our way.
Through it all, we built resilience that would shape everything that came next, including the business you see today.
In February 2016, when our fourth daughter was born, it was around that same time we stumbled onto the idea of a nomadic lifestyle: sell everything, buy an RV, and live life on the road. The idea stuck with us.
Building a Business On the Go
That same summer, I started helping a friend with the digital side of her business. It sparked something in me, and by July I had launched my own design shop on Etsy. Within a week I was working 40 hours a week. The demand was incredible, and I loved every second of it.
That fall, we bought our very first travel trailer, despite never having camped together before in our lives. One short trip later, we knew we had made the right call. By Christmas, Phil left his job to help with our girls full time while I focused on growing the business.
When a major shift in the platform I was building on caused our sales to drop almost overnight, I made the decision to rebrand and pivot into general graphic design. I rebuilt everything from the ground up, one referral at a time. That leap turned into Designs on the Go, LLC.
Hitting the Road Full Time
In the summer of 2017, we sold our house and moved into our trailer full time. It was a season full of both joy and heartbreak, including the unexpected loss of my best friend, but we leaned on each other and kept pushing forward.
By mid-October, we officially set off on our travel adventure as a family of six. A couple of years in, we upgraded to a 38 foot motorhome, making travel days easier and giving us more freedom to explore off the beaten path. In 2023, we transitioned again, this time into a fifth wheel, for even more comfort and flexibility on the road.
Adapting and Thriving
These days, we've slowed our pace a bit and started camp hosting or workcamping along the way. It's a wonderful trade, our time and help in exchange for a place to stay and occasionally extra income, and it's allowed us to keep living this life we love while continuing to grow the business.
Running Designs on the Go from the road has taught me something I carry into every client relationship: things rarely go as planned, and that's okay. What matters is figuring out how to make it work anyway.

Always Remember...
"It is never a matter of whether or not it can be done, but rather how can it be done."

Why It Matters To You
Running a business from the road has taught me a few things that make me a better designer and partner for yours.
I know what it's like to build something from nothing.
Designs On The Go isn't a hobby, it's my livelihood, built one client and one project at a time, just like yours. I understand the stakes because I live them too.
I work where my clients work: online.
Since I'm never tied to one location, I've built my entire business around clear, easy communication, no matter where you are or what time zone you're in. Whether you prefer texting, a quick call, or email, we'll find a rhythm that works for you.
Fresh perspective, every single day.
New towns, new scenery, new conversations, it all feeds the creative side of what I do. I bring that same energy and fresh thinking to every project, instead of staring at the same four walls day after day.
